Already In His Heart


Thank you Father for delivering to us this helpless little child,
brought to us with love. You know we had waited a while.
Lord, before I could, you got to meet this special little man.
And, you placed him with me, straight from heaven, part of your plan.
His mommy and daddy thank you for him each and every day.
And, thank you for keeping him safe as it nears his 1st birthday.
This year, Lord, you have blessed us so many times, we can’t keep count.
I view all these blessings as little miracles, even the smallest amount.
From rolling over, sitting up, and constantly wanting to talk,
the biggest blessing yet was around Thanksgiving---he walked.
In his little life, I feel your presence already, doing its part.
And, knowing that makes me glad you’re already in his heart.
Lord, I promise to raise him to know you above all,
to teach him to witness to others, and in his faith, stand tall.
Lord, I pray he will be a blessing to others as he grows
and that he will touch lives of others he will come to know.
All I ask is when his time has come to return home again to you,
that he will know your word, love, grace, blessings and mercies too.
But for today I want to stop to give you special thanks dear Lord.
Children are more precious than anything money can afford.
They are the nearest thing to heaven without seeing your face,
and in their little newborn faces, I can already see your grace.
And, thank you Lord for watching over all the children, though it’s hard.
But, isn’t it great to know that they already have you in their heart?


*sniff*, hard to believe my little "Bubba" will be 9 years old this coming Sunday.
